Seasonal Affective Disorder

by Journey to Health Program Director, Becky Anderson

We don’t want you to be SAD!!

Happy December!! This is your PSA to watch out for a very common condition that hits many people this time of year. The “winter blues” are a real thing, but the effect can be reduced by watching for the warning signs.

Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD, can be alleviated with a good game plan for when the symptoms set in (or before). Getting regular physical activity is the best way to offset the symptoms. Light therapy is another along with daily Vitamin D supplements.

If these preventative measures don’t help, please do not hesitate to reach out to your primary care provider. Counseling and/or antidepressants may be necessary.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
