Being a Role Model

by Journey to Health Program Director, Becky Anderson

Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, older cousin, older sibling, neighbor or family friend, our next generation really needs us to show them how to live their best lives. Do the people you have influence over see you eating a well-balanced diet? Do they see you being physically active? Getting enough sleep? Handling stress well? Then they will pattern those good habits for life.

On the flip side, bad habits are also learned. Eating a lot of junk food, lying on the couch for hours, not drinking water, or not going out and enjoying Mother Nature are all choices our youth are watching us make. Show our loved ones positivity by living healthy. We don’t have to be perfect; we just have to be a good example.
